Dear Friends,
We appreciate the comforting words of compassion from those that have previously heard of this tragic loss. Until now we were compelled by circumstance to wait for the confirmation. Now we sadly inform you of the tragic loss of our three grandchildren and their father as well as their two companions in a terrible airplane crash near their home in Gold Canyon, Arizona on 23 November 2011.
Karen Sommerstedt – Perry and her former husband Shawn Perry never ceased caring for their precious little ones, Morgan, 9, Logan, 8, and Luke, 6. Karen is an exceptional pilot whose devotion and loving care for her children never faltered during many years of tormenting crises. Shawn Perry was an exceptional pilot and a loving father who, even after their divorce faithfully cooperated with Karen in the care and nurture of the children. Now Karen is alone.
Just now we await word from Karen as she begins to emerge from the devastating impact of this accident that has utterly removed the center of her life. We shall strive to help Karen in her grieving and recovery. You may be certain that Karen appreciates your compassionate concern just as we do. Thank you profusely for this!
The news reports here below may help to explain what is otherwise inexplicable. When confronted by events that we hoped would never happen we strive to satisfy the emptiness we feel. We ask again and again, “Why? Why? Why? Of course there will be no answer to this question. In the days ahead we will discover once again that the gift of life is not really transient. Life is permanent. It will then be comforting to embrace the permanency of these treasures that are just for a time apart from us.
These six that perished in an instant on that mountain shall remain here within our hearts as eternal treasures who will greet us when we too shall depart the Earth to join them in our Father’s eternal Kingdom where our joy and not our sorrow shall rule all the days of our life. His grace is sufficient to remove all our deficiencies.
Please send your love and concern to Karen, our precious little one. For here and now is all that is within our power. What has been taken from our hands shall forever remain in the loving hands of our gracious Father. We shall remain forever brothers and sisters.
